My name is Jess Trent and I serve as the Sponsorship lead for the American Cancer Society's GenNow Network. I am also a Doctor of Physical Therapy working with the geriatric population in a Continuing Care Retirement Community. I moved to Philadelphia in October of 2024 from Newark, Delaware. A close friend reached out to me about joining the American Cancer Society's GenNow Network and I became a member in January of 2025. I joined GenNow as a way to give back to my community and to connect with other young professionals who are passionate about advocating for those affected by cancer. Throughout my life I have known many people that have been affected by cancer and have always been inspired by their resilience.
In January of 2025, I was diagnosed with 2 forms of papillary thyroid carcinoma and had half of my thyroid removed. I am relieved to say that no further treatment is necessary at this time aside from yearly screenings. I am continuing to join the fight for a cure and to support cancer survivors and those navigating treatment and who need support. Throughout the year I will be participating in many fundraising efforts and preparing for our second annual fundraiser "Distilling Hope" on November 13, 2026.
