Hi, and thank you for visiting my fundraising page. My name is Lexi Shipon, and I recently joined the American Cancer Society's GenNow Network, a community of young professionals committed to making a real impact in the fight against cancer, a cause deeply personal to me.
When I was 18, I lost my mom to breast cancer during my freshman year at Penn State. She previously beat the disease and was seven years cancer-free before it returned and spread for the worse. Despite everything, my mom remained incredibly kind, uplifting, and selfless. People would visit her in the hospital and somehow leave feeling better themselves because that's just who she was.
She was just 49 when she passed away.
Losing my mom at such a young age and watching my dad become a single parent shaped who I am today. It deepened my understanding of not only the strength of those fighting cancer, but also the resilience of the loved ones beside them.
Honoring my mom's memory by giving back is incredibly important to me. Through GenNow, I'll be participating in fundraising efforts to support cancer research and patient resources, and I'd be so grateful for your support in helping me make an impact.
Thank you, it truly means a lot.
