DEBBIE DICKINSON was one of the original supermodels of the prêt-à-porter era, serving as a principal house model for Chanel, Issey Miyake, and Yves Saint Laurent. She also worked closely with Karl Lagerfeld for Chloé during the launch of his celebrated ready-to-wear collections. Dickinson appeared on hundreds of magazine covers worldwide and made fashion history by appearing on three international editions of Vogue in the same month. Her work included collaborations with leading houses such as Valentino, Gianni Versace, Calvin Klein, and Ralph Lauren, and she became the first contract model for Giorgio Armani.
Dickinson began acting at thirteen, appearing in Lenny alongside Dustin Hoffman. By sixteen she had launched her modeling career in Paris, quickly becoming one of the most sought-after faces of international fashion and commercial television.
In addition to her landmark fashion career, Dickinson continued acting in film and television. She appeared in Six Degrees of Separation and guest-starred as herself on television series including As the World Turns and Another World. In the 1990s she produced and co-starred with comedian Robert Klein in Let's Not Make Love, which aired on HBO and Comedy Central, with segments later featured on The Tonight Show and Late Show with David Letterman.
Her film career has brought her into projects with actors including Michael J. Fox, Jeff Goldblum, Will Smith, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Donald Sutherland, Michael Douglas, Stockard Channing, and Kelsey Grammer.
More recently Dickinson has appeared in several major feature films including A Complete Unknown starring Timothée Chalamet and Elle Fanning; Maestro with Bradley Cooper and Carey Mulligan; and It Ends with Us with Blake Lively. She also appears in the acclaimed series And Just Like That… with Sarah Jessica Parker and in The Gilded Age. Dickinson is currently involved in two upcoming feature film projects with Jennifer Lopez.
A lifelong performer, Dickinson studied theater with Bill Hickey at HB Studio, with Fred Kareman at Carnegie Hall, and voice with opera star Jay Shin. Her stage work includes Off-Broadway performances such as the lead soprano role in Holiday in Heaven at Theatre at St. Clement's, Martin Eden at the National Opera Center, and A Christmas Carol at Theatre for the New City.
Dickinson has also recorded with Brazilian jazz legends Toninho Horta, Romero Lubambo, and Aloisio Aguiar under the direction of Cliff Korman of Lincoln Center. In addition to performing, she has written for The New York Times, 25A Magazine, and Dan's Papers, and collaborated with Anthony Haden-Guest for WhiteHot Magazine of Contemporary Art. In recent years, through the Debbie Dickinson Gallery, Dickinson has also established herself as an art curator, self-producing fifteen fine art exhibitions and curating more than 150 shows from Nantucket to Art Basel Miami Beach. She remains a committed advocate for children's rights, peace initiatives, and mental health rehabilitation.
