GENERAL

WHAT IS THE BLACK & GOLD AFFAIRE?  

The Black & Gold Affaire is an annual fundraiser hosted by the Palos Verdes Peninsula Athletic Booster Club. The goal is to raise funds to support the Student Athletics Program at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School. This is the 35th year of the Black & Gold Affaire. The fundraiser includes a virtual online auction followed by an in-person gala event. The gala event features a reception and plated dinner with a silent and live auction, hall of fame induction, and parade of senior student athletes.

WHAT IS THE ATHLETIC BOOSTER CLUB? 

The Palos Verdes Peninsula High School Athletic Booster Club (PVPHSABC) is dedicated to enhancing the experience of all our student athletes of the Palos Verdes Peninsula High School Athletic Program by providing financial support for capital improvements, equipment, athletic trainers, and related resources. Our commitment is to fundraise with community and business partners to support the needs of the school's athletic programs that cultivate a culture of teamwork, sportsmanship, and pride, ensuring that every student-athlete has the opportunity to reach their fullest potential. We are 100% parent volunteers and 100% of our proceeds are used to support the 26 sports and 60 teams of the PVPHS Student Athletic Program. The Booster Club was founded in 1991 and is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our tax identification number is 95-4331744. 

HOW DO I BECOME A MEMBER OF THE BOOSTER CLUB?

DO YOU ACCEPT CASH DONATIONS?

TICKETS   

MY ABC MEMBERSHIP INCLUDED FREE TICKET(S). HOW DO I GET THEM?   

You will receive an email acknowledging your tickets and inviting you to register for the 2026 Black and Gold Affaire, including a special "discount code." You will need to go to the Black and Gold website, click on "Buy Tickets Now", register and enter your code. This code is for you only and cannot be shared with anyone else. You will receive an email confirming the tickets. No physical tickets will be issued as everything will be online. 

I PRE-ORDERED TICKETS DURING SCHOOL REGISTRATION. HOW DO I GET THEM?   

Follow the same instructions for ABC Membership Tickets above. 

I WANT TO PURCHASE A WHOLE TABLE OF TEN BUT SOME MEMBERS OF OUR PARTY ALREADY BOUGHT THEIR TICKETS. CAN WE STILL GET A TABLE?   

Yes, we will do our best to accommodate you. As soon as possible, send an email to fundraising@pvphsabc.com and include the list of the ten (10) guests that want to form the table. We will do our best to put your table together. IMPORTANT: All Tables MUST be ordered no later than March and are subject to availability. 

WHAT IS A VIP TICKET? 

The VIP ticket reserves a seat at a table located directly adjacent to the stage to provide a premium view of the evening's events. 

CAN I BRING MY KIDS TO THE BLACK & GOLD AFFAIRE?     

The Black & Gold Affaire is an adult-only (21+) event.

MY ATHLETE IS A SENIOR, DO I NEED TO BUY THEM A TICKET FOR THE PARADE OF ATHLETES?         

No, senior athletes do not need a ticket to participate in the parade. They will be contacted closer to the event and will need to RSVP to confirm their participation. 


PARADE OF ATHLETES   

WHAT IS THE PARADE OF ATHLETES?

The Parade of Athletes is the Athletic Booster Club's opportunity to honor our senior student athletes for the last time before graduation. During the Parade of Athletes, the seniors will be announced, shake hands with Dr. DJ Clovis, PVPHS Athletic Director, and have their picture taken with Dr. Kyle Garrity, PVPHS Principal, and their Athletic Coach. Immediately following the parade, the seniors will participate in the closing of the event with guests. A group photo is taken of all senior athletes at the event.

CAN ANY ATHLETE PARTICIPATE IN THE PARADE OF ATHLETES?    

Only seniors participate in the parade. All other athletes will have to be patient until their senior year to participate.


HALL OF FAME   

WHAT IS THE HALL OF FAME?  

The Palos Verdes Peninsula High School Athletic Booster Club Hall of Fame honors athletes who have achieved excellence through their participation in sport, who have made outstanding contributions in the field of high school athletics and have been an integral part of the Rolling Hills High School or Palos Verdes Peninsula High School and/or the community. WHO IS THE 2026 INDUCTEE?

As of this time, the Hall of Fame inductee for 2026 has not been announced. 


GOLDEN TICKETS

WHAT IS A GOLDEN TICKET?   

The Golden Ticket is a special drawing that is held before the live auction begins at the Black & Gold Affaire. The drawing winner has the opportunity to select their own prize from any of the live auction items! This includes the coveted graduation tickets and parking spots! Only 100 tickets are sold, so the winner has a 1 in 100 golden opportunity to select the luxury prize of their choice. Golden tickets are sold online and at the event. Winners MUST be present at the event to win. 

WHAT DOES RESERVE MEAN ON THE GOLDEN TICKET ITEM?    

When you purchase your Golden Ticket online, you are "reserving" a Golden Ticket(s) in your name for the event. Your card will not be charged, per state regulations, until the night of the event. If you do not reserve a ticket in advance, Golden Tickets can be purchased at the Black & Gold Affaire, availability permitting.


AT THE EVENT

WHAT IS THE WINE, WHISKEY, & TEQUILA WHEEL?           

Purchase a ticket to spin the wheel and win a surprise bottle of wine, whiskey or tequila valued at $25 or more. These bottles are for take home only. Bottles may not be opened and consumed at the event. 

HOW CAN I PURCHASE A TICKET FOR THE WINE, WHISKEY, & TEQUILA WHEEL?       

Tickets can be purchased in advance online or at the event, availability permitting. You MUST be present to use your ticket and spin the wheel.  


GENERAL AUCTION QUESTIONS   

CAN I RETRACT OR CANCEL MY BID?   

No, you cannot retract or cancel a bid. It is important to read all information about an auction item before placing a bid. Once a bid is placed you are obligated for that bid and the purchase of that item, unless you are outbid by another bidder. YOU CANNOT RETRACT OR CANCEL A WINNING BID AFTER THE AUCTION CLOSES. ALL SALES ARE FINAL.

WHAT HAPPENS TO ITEMS THAT ARE NOT SOLD IN AN AUCTION?   

If an item is not sold during the auction, there may be other opportunities to purchase the item such as after the close of the online auction (48-hour Last Chance) or at the pick up day. (See "What happens when the online auction ends?" and "How do I get my items that I won in the auction?" below.)


ONLINE AUCTION     

WHAT IS AN ONLINE AUCTION?     

The online auction is a separate event held virtually online from March 13 through March 22, 2026 at PenBlackandGold.com. It will function like a regular auction, but is conducted virtually through the website and will feature a broad array of exciting items. Anyone can participate by registering and bidding using a smart phone or any other computing device. You must enter a credit card to bid. Winners of these auctions will be able to pick up their items on April 18, 2026 at Peninsula High School. At this online auction, you will also be able to see a preview of items that will be at the event silent and live auctions.

WHAT IS A "BUY IT NOW" AUCTION ITEM?    

These items have a set price and more than one are available to purchase. You can purchase these items without bidding until the items are sold out. 

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE ONLINE AUCTION ENDS?   

This online auction is scheduled to close automatically on Sunday, March 22 at 10:00pm PST. At this time all auction items with bidding activity will be closed. In the event a bid has been placed with the last 60 seconds of the auction close, the auction will automatically be extended for another 60 seconds until there are no more bids placed for a full one (1) minute. At that time, the auction will automatically close and the highest bidder will be awarded the item. Winning bidders will be notified and automatically checked out. 

After the auction has closed, any items that have no bids will then be available for purchase as a "buy it now" item at the opening bid price. There will be no additional bidding. 

HOW DO I GET MY ITEMS THAT I WON IN THE AUCTION?    

"Pick Up Day" will be held at Peninsula High School on April 18, 2026 from 10:00am to 2:00pm. If you are unable to pick up your item(s) that day, contact fundraising@pvphsabc.com to make other pick up arrangements. Items that are eligible for email will be sent within 2 weeks following the end of the auction. There may also be opportunities to purchase unsold auction items.

CAN I GET MY ITEMS SHIPPED TO ME? 

No, we are unable to ship items at this time. If an item can be emailed, then it will be emailed to you within 2 weeks of the close of the auction.


EVENT AUCTIONS   

WHAT IS THE SILENT AUCTION?   

The silent auction takes place at the Black & Gold Affaire event on March 28, 2026 at the Harlyne J. Norris Pavilion. The auction is "silent" because there is no auctioneer conducting the bidding. It is either done through written bid sheets or on your mobile device. These auction items are exclusive to the event, and on display to view and bid on during the opening reception from 6pm and 8pm. A schedule of when bidding closes will be available in the program and at the event. Winners will be able to pay for their items and take them home with them at the end of the evening.

WHAT IS THE LIVE AUCTION?   

The live auction takes place during the dinner portion of the Black & Gold Affaire with a live auctioneer conducting the bidding. The items available for auction are premier items exclusive to event guests and include graduation tickets, travel, and extra special items for bid. This auction is conducted with the traditional call and paddle raise style of auctions in the ballroom. Live auction items will be available for preview in the "Items" section under the "Live Auction" of the PenBlackandGold.com before the event.

I WON AN ITEM(S) AT THE EVENT, HOW DO I GET THEM?    

At the close of the silent and live auctions, all winning bids will automatically be processed. At the end of the evening, you will be able to pickup your auction items at the checkout table and take them home with you.

I MADE A MISTAKE, CAN I CANCEL MY BID AND GET A REFUND?
