Q. What is the schedule for the evening?
A. A Night at the Museum begins at 6:00 p.m. and continues until 9:00 p.m. Plentiful passed hors d'oeuvres and dessert will be served throughout the evening, with a full open bar. There is no seated dinner or presentation, but guests are encouraged to arrive by 7:00 p.m. to fully enjoy touring the museum, experience our "living history" interpreters, try their luck at a festive game or two, all while helping the Chicago Maritime Museum raise funds to enhance and expand its mission.
Q. What is a "Living History" interpreter?
A. A Night at the Museum brings Chicago's maritime history alive with interpreters from different eras of our past. Guests will be able to talk with interpreters representing characters like a 17th-century Voyageur, telling tales of exploration on our waterways.
Q. What "Festive Games" will be available?
A. Returning this year will be the popular "Treasure Trove," with prizes valued from $25 to more than $100. The cost to participate is $25 per chance. Nautical trivia and other complimentary games will also be available.
Q. Will there be an auction?
A. A phenomenal silent auction will be presented at the event, with a mobile bidding platform making it easy for anyone to bid on our exciting and unique packages. Click here to bid on the auction!
Q. Will there be a paddle raise?
A. With no formal program, we won't have a live auction or paddle raise. HOWEVER, everyone will have a chance to "BRING THE NIGHT ALIVE" at our interactive donor wall.
Q. Where can I park?
A. Free parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis in the north lot of the Bridgeport Art Center. The entrance is off Racine at 35th. There will be other events at the center the night of our benefit. If the lot is full, street parking is available.
Q. What is the dress code?
A. A Night at the Museum is "Yachting Cocktail." Blue blazers and khakis are welcome, black tie definitely not required.
Q. Can I sit at a table with my friends?
A. Because there is no formal presentation, there is no assigned seating for this event. There will be tables set up throughout the museum for guests to relax during the evening.
