Books for Boots is 100% volunteer operated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides new and like new books, movies, cd's, puzzles, and approved craft items to all our military members; from injured recruits at basic training to veterans and military children, here in Louisiana and abroad. Items and shipping are provided for free, always. In just two years of operation, they have provided almost 10,000 items free to military members. Items that this organization can't use are passed on to other nonprofits on our community, such as Friends of the Ascension Parish Library, One Breath, MOH (supporting foster children), and so on.
Our main expenses are composed of shipping fees, two discounted storage units, insurance, packing supplies, and so on. Our dream is to have an actual temperature controlled warehouse, office, or work space for sorting and storing that is safe and accessible to our volunteers, donors, and military members close to Prairieville / EBR Parish line.
