About Sean
Sean is a Partner at international law firm Cleary Gottlieb, specializing in restructuring, bankruptcy, and special situations. With over 20 years of experience, Sean provides strategic advice to clients navigating complex, often novel, situations. Sean has been recognized by The American Lawyer as Litigator of the Week, "Outstanding Restructuring Lawyer" by Turnarounds and Workouts, and as a leading lawyer by Chambers, among others. He is also active in providing pro bono legal services.
During his 17-year tenure on the BCHS Board of Directors, Sean has lent his professional experience and commitment to Brooklyn for multiple special projects for the Board. Currently, Sean serves on the Trustees and Development & Communications committees.
As an active member in the Brooklyn community, Sean also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Brooklyn Children's Museum and was its past Chair. He is an active supporter of the Prospect Park Alliance and Brooklyn.org.
About Ambereen
Ambereen is a female pelvic medicine reconstructive surgeon and obstetric fistula surgeon. She is dedicated to making women's healthcare accessible to all, which is reflected in her work in the healthcare nonprofit space.
Dr. Sleemi is the co-founder and executive director of International Medical Response, an organization dedicated to providing surgical care for women with obstetric fistulas and pelvic floor disorders, training local surgeons and healthcare workers in areas of need worldwide. Dr. Sleemi serves on the Leadership Council for USA for UNFPA, U.S. national committee for the United Nations' sexual and reproductive health and rights agency, having been awarded the "International Humanitarian Award" from the UN in 2023.
Through her work with IMR, UNFPA and other organizations, Dr. Sleemi has trained surgeons in obstetric fistula surgery, pelvic reconstruction and has cared for patients across the globe, including Eritrea, Haiti, Liberia, Niger, Pakistan, Nicaragua, Jamaica, South Sudan, Puerto Rico, and Ukraine.
Sean and Ambereen live in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn, where they raised three kids, Zain, Laila and Yasmina, and too many pets to name.
