Mission Honoree: Helping Up Mission
A part of Baltimore since 1885, Helping Up Mission (HUM) offers life-changing care to men and women struggling with homelessness, poverty, and addiction. They provide hope by meeting the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of people experiencing hardship and crisis. HUM's Spiritual Recovery Program integrates the practical needs of their clients - food, clothing, shelter - with their clinical, mental health, medical, educational, and vocational needs.
In order to provide shelter, food, clothing, and counseling services to the vulnerable populations of Baltimore, HUM relies on a vast network of compassionate employees, dedicated volunteers, generous donors, and reliable partners. As an organization committed to strengthening the connections in the Greater Baltimore Area, The League for People with Disabilities is proud to partner with the inspirational men and women of HUM.
Adults in The League's Meaningful Day Program have been volunteering in HUM's Men's Program for the past few years. They primarily assist in the dining room area three days a week where their strengths and skills are matched to various tasks assigned during mealtimes. Over time, both the participants supported by The League and staff members have built genuine relationships with the residents and other staff members of HUM.
As part of their recovery and healing, HUM residents have also been volunteering at CLUB1111 on the second Saturday of every month. Through HUM's core values of community, integrity, and innovation, the volunteers enjoy a meaningful sense of purpose in supporting The League's mission through programming and special events. The League is honored to work with a Mission Partner as dynamic and transformative as HUM.
Community Honoree: T. Rowe Price
Since 1981, T. Rowe Price has been creating positive change in the communities where its associates live and work. Driven by a commitment to expanding opportunities, enriching lives, and enabling equitable solutions to help lift people and communities, T. Rowe Price aims to support the growth of strong nonprofit leaders, organizations, and nonprofit networks by strategically addressing their needs.
As a responsive, collaborative partner, T. Rowe Price seeks inclusivity and accountability within its nonprofit communities. The League's long-standing partnership with T. Rowe Price has improved the quality of life for hundreds of individuals through their direct support of CLUB1111, Maryland's first nightclub for adults with disabilities, their employee giving incentives, and their continued sponsorship of annual events. T. Rowe Price's philanthropic giving makes it possible for The League to provide fun and meaningful experiences to individuals of all ages and abilities.
Because of T. Rowe Price's investment in The League's programs over the years, youth and adults with disabilities in Baltimore are thriving and receiving the top-quality services that they require and deserve. The importance that T. Rowe Price leadership places on strengthening community reflects in the vibrancy and well-being of Baltimore's most vulnerable residents.
