Demeka Jennings-Johnson earned a bachelor's degree from Rutgers University in 1995 and
began her career in the human services field, shortly thereafter. Demeka was employed with
SERV Achievement Centers, Ewing, NJ for fifteen years. During that time, she earned the
certification of Family and Behavior Specialists through the Teaching Family Model (TFM) and
served the agency as the Coordinator of Behavior Support Services.
Currently, Demeka is a Mental Health Practitioner for Oaks Integrated Care. Demeka provides
short-term mental health counseling to students attending Aurthur J. Holland and Martin Luther
King Jr. middle schools, located in Trenton NJ. Additionally, Demeka conducts weekly grief
groups with the students she serves utilizing the Good Grief curriculum. In 2021, Demeka earned
a master's degree in Human Services, specializing in community and social services, and
graduated with distinction from Capella University. Demeka is pursuing a PhD in Human
Services specializing in Mental Health Facilitation from Walden University, where she has
maintained a 4.0 GPA.
Further, Demeka is a member of the National Organization of Human Services (NOHS) and the
National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS). In 2023, she earned the Certification Grief
Counselor, from the American Academy of Grief Counseling obtaining the credentials (GC-C).
