Frequently Asked Questions

What is the gala for and why should I attend?

The gala is a fun and lively event where HudsonWay parents, friends, and families come together to celebrate our school.  By attending, you'll enjoy a delightful evening filled with dinner, dancing, and an open bar.  It's not only a great opportunity to have fun, but also a chance to raise funds for the benefit of our students. Moreover, there will be exclusive live auction items available at the gala that you won't find online.

What is the cost of a ticket?  What does my ticket include?

The standard ticket price of $150 includes admission, dinner, dancing, and open bar!  There will also be a live auction exclusively for gala attendees.  Tickets are limited and sales end 4/25/24 so buy yours today!

How many guests can I bring?

You can bring as many guests as you'd like!  We encourage everyone to invite their family and friends.  Each guest will need to purchase a ticket in advance. All guests must be ages 21 and over.

What is the dress code?

The dress code is spring festive and country club casual. Cocktail attire is fine too!  Feel free to dress according to our "Spring Garden" theme (garden party attire). Some "garden party attire" ideas may include floral patterns, khakis, linen pants or suits, sundresses, blazers, suits, jumpsuits, any clothing in spring colors, or more!  We kindly request no jeans.

Is there assigned seating?  Can I sit with my friends?

Seating is not assigned, so you can grab a seat at any table with your friends!  Or, if you prefer, you can gather a group of friends and purchase a reserved table!

I cannot attend the gala, can I still participate in the auction or donate?

Absolutely! Many auction items will be available on the online auction site, where you can place your bids remotely. However, please note that there will be certain items auctioned live exclusively for gala attendees. Additionally, you can consider sponsoring a ticket for a teacher who wishes to attend. The option to sponsor a teacher's ticket is available on the ticket sale website.

How do I sponsor a teacher?

To show our appreciation for our faculty, we'd like to invite our teachers to join us with discounted or complimentary tickets for the evening. To help cover costs, we offer the opportunity for families to contribute $150 or any partial amount to sponsor a teacher's ticket. Our faculty thank you for your generosity.

I have items to donate for the auction, how do I do that?

To donate items for the auction, please fill out an item Donation Form here or contact hwispa-nj-fundraising@hwis.org.

What is the difference between the pre-gala silent auction and the regular silent and live auction?

The pre-gala silent auction will take place from 2/21 to 3/4. It will showcase highly sought-after summer camps in sports, art, and music/theater, including HWIS summer camp. Additionally, there will be unique class experiences available for parents to bid on, which can be redeemed throughout the spring.

The gala silent auction will run leading up to and during the gala on 5/3. This auction will feature a wide range of items, such as local gift certificates, sports event tickets, class art projects, and more! Our live auction will exclusively offer certain items for gala attendees during the event.

All proceeds from our auctions will be allocated towards upgrading the playground.

Here are some ideas for elevated casual country club outfits:

For ladies:

Nice slacks, skirts, or dressy capris paired with a pretty silky tank and a jacket or sweater set.
Sundresses, casual dresses, and shirt dresses are also great choices.
Complete the look with dressier sandals to elevate the outfit.

For men:

Khakis with a button-down shirt and a jacket are a stylish option
In warmer climates, a tropical shirt can work well
Deck shoes or leather loafers
